Lahore: Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan has said that Pakistani students particularly female have proved their metal all over the world. He expressed his belief that the future of Pakistan is in the safe hands due to the successes of the students at international level. He said that new generation will have to be equipped with education for coping with all challenges including extremism, unemployment and ignorance being faced by the country.
He expressed these views while addressing the 78thconvocation of Kinnaird College University, here today. Chairman Board of Directors Bishop Alexander John Malik, Principal Rukhsana David and a large number of students and parents were present on the occasion.
Rana Mashud said it is a pleasant astonishment that Pakistani women are taking lead in every sector of life and working with men shoulder to shoulder in the development of the country. Congratulating to the students, he advised them as they are going to inter into practical field, therefore, the education got from their alma mater will be helpful for them.
He also expressed good wishes for the students. Rana Mashhood said that the girl students of Daanish school Hasilpur have won laurels for Pakistan by getting 5thposition in international competitions arranged by NASA whereas a student getting education through scholarship of Punjab Educational Endowment Fund has obtained second position in the prestigious engineering university of USA which is proof of the fact that the Pakistani students are second to none.
The Education Minister said it is our mission that no child should remain out of school by 2018 under Parho Punjab—Barho Punjab Programme. He said that besides modern education, information technology is need of the hour and Punjab government has distributed laptops among students for meeting this need and tablets will be distributed among students in future. He said that campuses of 11 universities of international standard are being set up in Lahore Knowledge Park for providing best educational opportunities to the students. He said that steps will also be taken for providing securities to female students.
Meanwhile, Rana Mashud also inaugurated a pictorial exhibition arranged by United Nations at Lahore Museum. He said that Pakistani people are peaceful and loving and this exhibition reflects this fact. He said that the extremists who damaged the image of Pakistan should be defeated jointly and the soft image of the country should be brought before the world.
