Journalist Panel wins Press Gallery Elections

Lahore: The Journalist Panel’s candidates for president & Secretary have been elected unopposed in the press gallery elections 2015. The progressive panel even could not find a candidate for contesting the most important elections of the Press Gallery held on 9th of April.

The journalist Panel’s Khawaja Naseer from ARY and Qamar Jabbar from AAj TV were the candidates for president but on the intervene of the journalist panel’s president Arshad Ansari ,Qamar Jabbar withdraw his nomination paper as a candidate for president slot and submitted paper for secretary.

The progressive panel’s leadership who was backing Qamar Jabbar left the scene soon after he submitted his paper as a secretary and resultant both the members of journalist panel elected unopposed.

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif,Opposition Leader Mian Mehmood ur Rasheed,Acting Speaker Punjab Assembly ,Acting Governor Rana Iqbal,PML-Q president Ch Shujaat Hussain,former deputy prime minister Ch Pervaiz Elahi,Ch Moonis Elahi have congratulated newly elected office-bearers of Punjab Assembly Press Gallery Committee on their success in annual elections.

In a felicitation message to newly elected President Kh. Naseer and Secretary Qamar Jabbar of Press Gallery Committee, they expressed the hope that newly elected office-bearers of Press Gallery Committee will come up to the confidence reposed by journalist community. They said that newly elected office-bearers will utilize all their energies for resolving problems of the journalists associated with press gallery.
