Lahore: Chairman Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT) Abdul Basit called on the Inspector General of Punjab Police, Mushtaq Sukhera. He was accompanied by Director General Projects and Policy Research, Ms. Lubna Pathan and Director Policy, Khurram Afzal Malik.
The primary agenda of the meeting was to brainstorm measures aimed at building investors confidence vis-à-vis their grievances related to law and order .The formation of a special cell within the office of Inspector General of Punjab Police, mandated specially to cater to complaints/queries sent by PBIT on behalf of investors, was discussed and agreed upon. This cell will be headed by a senior police official and will have a focal person assigned for ease of communication.
During the discussion, the PBIT members were also apprised of the Government of Punjab’s initiative regarding the creation of a special cell to redress the complaints of Overseas Pakistanis. The idea of enhancing this cell’s scope of duties to include that of the investors concerns was also deliberated upon.
IG Punjab also informed Chairman PBIT about the recent efforts of the department for efficient management and control of crime, including the ongoing automation of many police stations which has contributed in the decline of crime.
