Eradication of communicable diseases is the top priority of the government:DG Health Punjab

Director General Health Punjab Dr. Zahid Pervaiz Lahore: Director General Health Punjab Dr. Zahid Pervaiz has said that prevention and eradication of communicable diseases especially polio is the top priority of the government. He said that children are the future of the nation and to protect them from the diseases is our national duty for which optimum coverage of routine immunization is essential.

He said this, while addressing the inaugural ceremony of training of the master trainers for EPI Supervisors at Provincial Health Development Centre (PHDC) here today. Director PHDC Dr. Suhail Saqlain, Director Punjab Health Sector Reforms Programmes Ali Bahadur Qazi, MS Services Hospital Dr. Umar Farooq Baloch, Procurement Specialist, Tayyab Farid, WHO Representative Dr. Mazhar Qureshi, Director EPI Dr. Suhail Ahmad and the participants of training workshop were present in the inaugural function. This training workshop will continue upto 23rdApril.

Director General Health said that during the last four months, Health Indicators including EPI coverage have visibly improved. He said that strict monitoring of immunization by E-Vaccs system has improved the performance of vaccinators. He said that immunization of children is not only an official duty but it is also a national responsibility of vaccinators and polio workers. Dr. Zahid Pervaiz lauded the managerial capabilities of Dr. Suhail Saqlain and said that Dr. Suhail Saqlain has made PHDC a vibrant institution by introducing many training courses and workshops for health managers, vaccinators and health technicians etc and PHDC is palying a very important role for health sector development. He said that training and capacity building is an ongoing process which should be continued.

Earlier, Director PHDC Dr. Suhail Saqlain brifed about the ongoing training workshops and future schedule of training programme. Director Punjab Health Sector Reforms Programme Ali Bahadur Qazi said that Chief Minister’s Health Roadmap Programme is being implemented in Punjab due to which visible improvement have been observed in the health sector indicators. He said that within next few months there would be tremendous improvement in health sector in Punjab. Later DG Health Dr. Zahid Pervaiz also distributed Shields and Souvenirs among the participants.
