Lahore: Secretary General of the Jamaat e Islami, Liaqat Baloch, has said that the Pakistani society was being driven towards sectarianism, extremism and violence under a well thought out plan.
He said that the enemy agenda could be foiled through ensuring the supremacy of the constitution and the law and protecting national unity by holding fast to the country’s Islamic ideology. He was addressing a select gathering in the city on Saturday.
Liaqat Baloch said that the values were destroying because of the failure of the government system and social evils like deceit, greed and corruption were on the rise.
He said that the masses were in the grip of economic and energy crises while the rulers were giving the impression that the economy was improving. Major development projects of the government had become controversial and uncertainty among the people was increasing. He said that after the Neelam -Jhelum project, Dyamar- Bhasha Dam project and the Nandipur project, the Karachi- Lahore Motorway, Pak- China Economic Corridor and lately the NLG import had become controversial which was most dangerous for the country’s economy.
He demanded of the government to take the parliament into confidence on these issues in order to remove the misunderstandings on this core.
