Lahore: Provincial Minister for Housing, Works & Communication Malik Tanveer Aslam Awan has said that present government will achieve the target of providing clean drinking water to every home by 2018. He said that Punjab government will provide potable water and health facilities to the people.
He said this while addressing a seminar in connection with World Water Day at a local hotel. Malik Tanveer Aslam Awan said that Punjab government has allocated 400 million rupees for various projects of providing clean drinking water to the people. He said that a sanitation policy is being introduced. He said that the Water Act will soon be enforced after which a number of steps will be taken for checking the wastage of water.
MPAs Raheela Khadam, Saira Iftikhar, Ramesh Singh Arora besides Mubarak Ali Sarwar, Syed Tarab Ali, Zubair Shafique, Siddique Ahmed Khan and Shazia Nawaz also addressed the seminar. Water Aid and Awaz presented a shield to the Provincial Minister.
Later, Malik Tanveer also distributed shields among officials of P&D, Health and Local Government departments, NGOs and the persons working on various projects of providing potable water to the citizens.
