Qatar Emir’s visit to further cement long-term ties

Lahore: The All Pakistan CNG Association on Monday said the visit of Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani will pave way for long-term bilateral relations which will benefit both brotherly Islamic countries.

It is beginning of a new era which will ensure close cooperation between two countries resulting in economic uplift, said APCNGA leader said Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha.

In a statement issued here today, he said that the invitation extended by the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif shows his desire to resolve energy crisis which is an issue bigger than the terrorism.

Ghiyas Paracha said that the visit of Emir of Qatar will ensure swift arrival of LNG as Qatar is the largest exporter of that fuel. Many countries have benefitted from the import of LNG and Pakistan is emerging as a big buyer of Qarti LNG, he said, adding that Pakistan can import 2000 mmcfd of LNG.

It will save Rs 450 billion investments in CNG sector, save millions of jobs and hefty foreign exchange, he said, adding that government’s cooperation has enabled transport sector to receive and start using LNG.

LNG for transport sector would result in world’s biggest LNG chain helping millions to avail affordable transportation, he said.

He said using LNG for power generation will enhance efficiency of power plants, reduce pollution and cut cost of generation which will reduce electricity tariff for masses, agriculture and industry.

The leader of the CNG sector said that the efforts of incumbent government would enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields including energy, investment, trade, defence and manpower.

Agreements will further deepen mutually beneficial cooperation existing between the two countries in various fields. He said that over one hundred thousand Pakistanis are working in Qatar sending precious foreign exchange which helps government balance budget.
