Provincial Zakat Council approves educational scholarships for religious seminaries

Chairman Province Zakat CouncilLahore: Provincial Zakat Council has accorded approval to release Rs. 5,39,05,000 under the head of educational scholarships general and educational scholarships for religious seminaries.

This was decided at a meeting presided over by Chairman Provincial Zakat Council Justice (R) Akhtar Hassan, here today. Secretary Zakat & Usher Habib-ur-Rehman Gillani, Administrator  Zakat Punjab Muhammad Yousaf Butt, members of the council Hafiz Zubair Ahmed Zaheer, Maulana Raghib Hussain Naeemi, Muhammad Azhar Farooqi, Saeed Ahmed Ansari, Mohtarma Tanveer Kauser, Aamir Shahzad, Section Officer, representative Secretary Finance government of the Punjab, Muhammad Shabbir Bhatti Deputy Secretary, representative Local Government and Community Development government of the Punjab and Muhammad Nasrullah Khan, Section Officer, representative Secretary Social Welfare government of the Punjab were present on the occasion.

According to details, the council has accorded approval to release Rs. 2,85,09,472 for 5032 girl and boy students studying in 115 educational institutions of 13 districts of Punjab and Rs.2,53,9,6067 for 7274 deserving girl and boy students studying in 69 religious seminaries of 8 districts. The council also gave approval to nomination as chairman of Aamir Saeed Ansari, Mohtarma Abida Bashir and Syed Aghaz Hussain Shah in District Zakat Committees of three districts Multan, Jhang and Vehari besides nomination of district zakat committee members in 26 districts. The Council also gave approval to payment of scholarships to deserving girl and boy students studying in technical training institutes under the aegis of Punjab Vocational Training Council through branchless banking and increased their monthly scholarship from Rs.2500 to Rs.3000. The council also decided that financial assistance be provided to those deserving girl and boy students for their business who have completed their education from technical training institutes so that they could become useful citizens of the society.
