Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League -Q senior central leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Ch Parvez Elahi has said despite very clear information given to Punjab Govt by intelligence agencies terrorists have entered the province and churches will be their target which were not provided additional security.
Talking to media and PML leaders at his residence here today, he said that minorities particularly the Christians were suffering from insecurity during N-League rulers’ tenure due to Gojra incident in 2009 followed by Joseph Colony Lahore which were attacked under the leadership of N-League leaders. He said according to world body World Vision in Progress, 14 thousand Christians have applied for shelter in Europe from 2009 to 2014, despite very clear orders of Islam and Sunnah of Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has also failed to provide protection to the life and property of the minorities also, inefficient rulers have also made police inefficient because he himself give orders and then put the blame of the police because of which in Youhanabad incident two persons were snatched away from the police and burnt alive and the police did not should the responsibility to save them from angry protesters.
Ch Parvez Elahi said that two major incidents of bloodshed and violence in Lahore, Model Town and Ferozepur Road, occurred near the residence of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and he just kept witnessing “tamasha”, these rulers were only protecting their own life and property.
He said that all those who died in Youhanabad incident were Pakistanis and the govt was responsible for their protection.
He said further that in the judicial inquiry of Model Town tragedy of shooting 100 persons, Justice Baqir Najafi Judicial Commission had held Shahbaz Sharif responsible but despite all his tall claims and announcements he had not resigned.
Ch Parvez Elahi said that he as the Chief Minister Punjab had returned all educational institutions including F. C. College to the Christians but Shahbaz Sharif had stopped return of more than half of these schools. He said that inefficient ministers were trying to promote schism through their irresponsible statements though the Founder of Pakistan had stated that the Christians and other minorities have equal rights in Pakistan. He said Christians services for Pakistan were unforgettable, they had given birth to able and loyal to Pakistan sons like Justice Cornelius, Group Captain Cecil Chaudhry and Speaker S. P. Singha, rulers should give them due respect so that the Christians do not seek refuge outside the country on being afraid. He said had N-League given punishment to N-Leaguer leaders and officers responsible for attacks on the Christians then such situation would not arisen today.
