Lahore: A high-profile meeting, under the chairmanship of Director General Sports Punjab Usman Anwar, reviewed the arrangements of upcoming Football World Cup Qualifying Round match between Pakistan and Yemen being played at Punjab Football Stadium on March 17, 2015.
Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) General Secretary Col (retd) Ahmed Yar Khan Lodhi,DIG Akhtar Umar Hayat Lalika, Additional Commissioner Asif Iqbal, CSO Col (retd) Asim, Rescue 1122 officer Shahid Waheed Qamar, DSP Pervaiz Butt, DSP Gulberg Nasir Mehmood, Protocol Officer Noorul Hasan, Home Department officer Irshad Ahmed, Lesco representative Zubair, Director PRO Arif Bhatti and other top ranked officers attended the meeting. The participants discussed the security, traffic, parking and general administrative arrangements thoroughly during the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, DG SBP Usman Anwar said that Punjab govt will go to every extent to provide top standard security to visiting football teams for the forthcoming events. “Football is undeniably the most popular sport of the world. We will utilize all resources for the promotion of football in Pakistan. Our country has great amount of football talent. We just need to groom the young talented soccer players,” he explained.
Usman Anwar said that SBP has always played a leading role for the promotion of sports not only Punjab but across the country. “Pakistan has earned a great respect in the field of sports in recent past and our country will be sports spearhead of the region in near future,” he added.
