President Mamnoon Hussain inaugurates the National Horse & Cattle Show

Lahore: President Mamnoon Hussain inaugurated the National Horse & Cattle Show in a colourful opening ceremony at Fortress Stadium on Thursday.

Acting Governor Punjab Rana Muhammad Iqbal, DG Rangers Maj. Gen. Khan Tahir Javed Khan, Advisor Health Punjab Kh. Salman Rafiq, Secretary Information, Secretary Local Government, Commissioner and DCO Lahore, senior officers and a large number of people were present on the occasion.

The players from Balochistan, Sindh, Gilgit Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhawa performed March Past while the national flag was carried by players from Azad Kashmir.

The performance of Sports Board Punjab (SBP) contingent drew the great appreciation from the audience at Fortress Stadium. The 1600-man SBP group performed excellent Unity Show which was widely admired by the spectators. The children also formed the map of Pakistan. The student also offered an eye-catching cultural show on this occasion.

President Mamnoon Hussain said that after a long period, National Horse and Cattle Show has brought a message of happiness. He said that this colorful fair reflects national solidarity and terrorism will be eliminated jointly from the country.

The President expressed the hope that after three years, this fair and exhibition will present a different look as government has started 15 mega projects for power generation as a result of which load-shedding will be eliminated and surplus electricity will be available for industries. He said that work has been stared on new dams which will result in increasing water and prosperity of farmers. He appreciated the measures taken by Punjab government for the development of agriculture sector. He said that economic corridor project launched by the government with China will change the condition of this region. He said that this is an important project which will not cause harm to any part of the country.

Mamnoon Hussain said that we should pledge to eliminate corruption and socially boycott the corrupt elements till they mend their ways. He said that we can put the country on the road to progress only through hard work. Events like cavalcade, tent pegging, horse riding, horse dance, dog race, PT show and national songs besides floats depicting culture of every province were presented on the occasion. The youth also presented local dance.

 

President Mamnoon Hussain, who was the chief guest of the opening ceremony, lauded the performance of all the regional artists and performers.

Governor Baluchistan, Muhammad Khan Achakzai was the chief gust in evening functions of first day of Horse and Cattle Show. Different shows were presented for the promotion of regional culture in colorful functions. Representing Punjab government, Provincial Minister for Agriculture Dr. Farrukh Javed presented souvenir to Governor Baluchistan while Provincial Minister Hameeda Waheed ud Din gave a photo album to the governor.
