Shuja Khanzada distributes keys of nine Suzuki Bolan among dengue squads

Lahore: Provincial Minister for Home and Environment Col.(R) Shuja Khanzada while distributing keys of nine Suzuki Bolan among heads of dengue squads set up for anti-dengue activities in towns of Lahore has directed them to keep a vigilant eye at tyre shops, junkyards, nurseries and under-construction buildings in their respective towns and submit their report to dengue directorate after every other day. He said that the performance of officers and officials deputed in the field for eradication of dengue will be monitored and those showing negligence will be dealt with strictly.

He said this while distributing keys of vehicles among anti-dengue squads of all towns of Lahore at the office of Secretary Environment, here today.

MPA Ch. Shahbaz Ahmad, Secretary Environment Iqbal Muhammad Chohan, DG Environment Farooq Hameed Sheikh and other concerned officers as well as a large number of dengue workers were present on the occasion.

The Provincial Minister told that all officers of Environment Department have been issued instructions for eradication of dengue and they are bound to ensure 100 percent implementation on SOPs issued by the government. He said that besides anti-dengue activities, all environment officers and anti dengue squads will also provide guidance to the people for taking preventive measures.

Col.(R) Shuja Khanzada said that Environment Department and media had played important role for controlling dengue during previous years. He said that like past, we will have to discharge this national responsibility by taking part in anti-dengue activities with the same spirit this year.

Secretary Environment Iqbal Muhammad Chohan said that all officers and officials of Environment Department have been made high alert about dengue and lists of existing tyre shops, junkyards and nurseries have been provided to the field staff in all towns. He said that a Dengue Directorate has been especially set up for eradication of dengue in his office and dengue squads deputed in towns will work under this directorate and submit their performance report on daily basis.
