Lahore: Monthly EDOs Health conference was held at the Directorate General Health Punjab under the chairmanship of Secretary Health Punjab Jawad Rafique Malik here today.
The meeting reviewed the steps taken for the control of polio, measles and dengue and evaluated the routine immunization of extended programme of immunization (EPI). The conference discussed in detail performance of EDOs Health in connection with the implementation of Chief Minister’s Health Roadmap Programme.
The meeting made a detailed comparison of the data sent by the Monitoring and Evaluation Assistants and Health Watch regarding the presence of medical officers and availability of medicines and basic health units at rural health centers.
Secretary Health directed the health managers to accelerate implementation on the CM Health Roadmap. He directed that procurement / availability of medicines in all government hospitals and health centers at district level should be ensured by 15th March and all the under repaired bio-medical equipments must be made functional by 31st March. He directed to remove the deficiencies in the health indicators and improve the performance of Health Department at district level.
Secretary Health directed that presence of medical officers at all the health centers must be ensured and correct data should be sent to the department. He directed that vacant posts of MOs/ WMOs at BHUs and RHCs should immediately be filled through adhoc appointment. The officers of Chief Minister Health Roadmap, special monitoring units and Punjab Health Sector reforms presented their reports regarding the performance of the government hospitals and EDDOs.
Secretary Health admonished EDO Health Bhakkar and made him OSD on unsatisfactory performance. He said that by taking new initiatives the performance of EDO Health has been improved. He hoped that performance of district health department will further improve as a result of implementation of Chief Minister’s Health Roadmap and e-monitoring of the health centers with regard to prevention of diseases, improvement in mother and child health, control of maternal mortality rate and provision of health facilities at local level.
Parliamentary Secretary Health Kh. Imran Nazir, DG Health Dr. Zahid Pervaiz, Director Punjab Health Sector Reforms Programme Ali Bahadar Qazi, Directors of different health programmes including EPI and CDC, all EDOs and representatives of international partners attended the conference.
