Lahore: After the Peshawar School incident, security agencies and government insinuations are at the same page. The implementation of the National Action Plan must be the top priority of all RPOs, CPOs and DPOs to defuse the unrest among the people as the prosperity of the country depends on an undisturbed law and order situation of which the responsibility lies on our shoulders.
This was stated by Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera, while addressing the RPO Conference held at Central Police Office, Lahore today. Addl: IGP Establishment Punjab, Nasim-ul-Zaman, Addl: IGP Operations, Arif Nawaz, Addl: IGP Welfare and Finance, Sohail Khan, Addl: IGP Training, Usman Khattak, Addl: IGP PHP, Javaid Islam, Addl: IGP Special Branch, Punjab, Dr. Arif Mushtaq, Addl: IGP CTD, Muhammad Tahir, RPO Sheikhupura, Malik Abu Bakar Khuda Bakhsh, RPO Gujranwala, Syed Dilawar Abbas, RPO Rawalpindi, Muhammad Azam, RPO Faisalabad, Ehsan Tufail, RPO Sargodha, Muhammad Ishaq Jehangir, RPO Multan, Amjad Javaid Saleemi, RPO Sahiwal, Faisal Shahkar, RPO Bahawalpur, Ehsan Sadiq, RPO D.G. Khan, Rehmat Ullah Khan Niazi, all CPOs, DPOs and other senior officers of CPO attended the conference.
Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera told the officers that Addl: IGP Operations and Addl: IGP CTD have been appointed as focal person for National Action Plan and, therefore, their instructions must be followed in true letter and spirit.
The PPO further said that all police stations across the province will be provided one thousand devices for the verification of the POs and 4th Schedulers at pickets or wherever needed. These devices will be linked with PITB and NADRA for the confirmation, added the IGP.
It was decided in the conference that the security of the minorities and the various sects and their holly places will be ensured at all costs and for the purpose all RPOs must take the threat alerts very seriously. IGP told the officers that they should cooperate with the minorities in getting them arm licenses for the protection of their holly places as the government of the Punjab already has delegated the powers to all the DCOs of the province.
It was also decided that under a unified policy identical training courses will be started at all training schools and colleges of the department. The conference also hailed the cooperation extended by the Chief of the Army Staff for the Counter Terrorism training of the police officials.
The pace of establishing check posts under Inter Provincial Border’s security was reviewed in detail in the conference. Moreover, the officers were also directed to ensure that the house owners must submit tenants’ data in their respective police stations within 7 to 15 days, besides, the hotel owners would be responsible to submit the information about their guests within 24 hours in the concerned police stations.
IGP told the officers that the third party audit will be conducted under the new police welfare fund rules after issuance of the notification.
Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera warned the police officers that there is no place in the department for those officers who are convicted or involved in any criminal activities. He further said that, in future, no officer would be appointed as DPO if he used pressure techniques and approaches.
The security of the Chinese working on government projects was reviewed in the conference and field officers were directed to ensure their security in their respective districts. It was also decided in the conference that the private companies must be told to ensure the security of the Chinese experts who are working on their projects.
All RPOs, CPOs and DPOs briefed the IGP about the crime situation of their respective areas.
