Lahore: A team of Health Department with the help of Police raided a drugs factory producing spurious medicines in Qila Hakiman, Sanda worth millions of rupees and confiscated fake injections, packing material and other equipment. The team also sealed the factory. Three persons were also arrested.
Parliamentary Secretary Health Khawaja Imran Nazir, Director General Health Dr Zahid Pervaiz, EDO Health Dr Zulfiqar Ali and other officers of the Health Department reached Sanda Police station and inspected OXIDIL injections and other material.
Speaking on the occasion, Khawaja Imran Nazir told the media that Health Department will continue crackdown against the sale of spurious and substandard drugs and the elements involved in this heinous trade will be taken to task. He appreciated Drug Inspector of Health Department, officers of District Quality Control Board and police for conducting successful raid and said that the heinous trade of fake medicines will be curbed.
Director General Health Dr Zahid Pervaiz said that OXIDIL is an expensive injection and used to treat infections and injuries and the persons involved in this trade are playing with human lives. He said that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has issued instructions to control the business of spurious drugs and the crackdown will be continued.
SHO Sanda said the accused arrested have confessed to producing and supplying fake drugs to other provinces. He further told that other members of the gang will soon be nabbed.
