Police to perform its duties efficiently for the safety of life and property of the citizens : CM Punjab

CM PunjabLahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that protection of life and property of the people is the responsibility of the state and all possible steps have been taken for improving law and order in the province. He said that emergent measures are being taken in view of the current situation.

He was addressing a high level meeting here today which reviewed overall law and order situation and security arrangements in the province. A detailed briefing was given to the meeting in this regard. Provincial Minister for Home Col.(R) Shuja Khanzada, Member Provincial Assembly Rana Sanaullah, Chief Secretary, Inspector General Police, Secretary Home and concerned officers attended the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that existing extraordinary situation demands extraordinary measures, therefore, necessary security arrangements have been made in public and private educational institutions in the whole province. He said that the National Action Plan is a unanimous strategy to rid the country of terrorism and implementation of this plan is yielding positive results.

The Chief Minister ordered the police to perform its duties efficiently for the safety of life and property of the citizens and maintenance of law and order. He said that strict monitoring of exit and entry points should be continued and full benefit should be taken from a consolidated intelligence system for foiling the nefarious designs of the terrorists. He further ordered that regular monitoring of the security measures be ensured.

Shahbaz Sharif said that immediate and effective decisions have been taken in the province in the light of the National Action Plan and all concerned departments are working with close coordination for this purpose. He said that necessary amendments have also been made in some laws for making sentences more stringent.

The Chief Minister directed that the ban on misuse of loudspeakers, publication and distribution of provocative literature and wall-chalking be implemented strictly and indiscriminate action be taken over any violation. He said that the whole nation is united in the war against terrorism and this menace will be eliminated with the force of unity. He said that terrorism and extremism will be rooted out from Pakistan to make the country a haven of peace and harmony.
