Lahore: DIG Islamabad Sultan Azam Taimori has urged to use fire safely and responsibly, adding that the Scouting could play pivotal role to develop self-confidence, ethics, leadership skills, and citizenship skills. He was addressing as chief guest in a ceremony to mark World Scouts Day, here at Karlot Residential College, Islamabad.
On the occasion, Fire Safety Expert Ali Reza, along with his team under the banner of Pakistan Emergency Response Learning Programme (PERLP) also demonstrated fire fighting and rescue drill. Talking to media, he said that the control of fire by early humans was a turning point in the cultural aspect of human evolution and the first large organized force of firefighters was established in ancient Rome in 6 AD.
Ali Reza further said that firefighters must work closely with other emergency response agencies, most particularly local and state police departments.
A large number of scouts, civil society members, journalists and people from other walks of life were also present to mark the day.
