Scientific symposium is very necessary for improving research in medical sector

Lahore: Advisor to Chief Minister on Health, Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that regular holding of scientific symposium is very necessary for improving research and educational activities in medical sector and improving looking after of the patients. He said that besides medicines, polite attitude of doctors and nurses plays an important role for early recovery of patients.Photo PGMI

He said this while addressing the concluding ceremony of 5th annual 2-day scientific symposium at Lahore General Hospital held under the aegis of Postgraduate Medical Institute and Ameer ud Din Medical College. The theme of the symposium was “Changing Attitudes in Medical Profession”.

Chairman Board of Management of PGMI and Lahore General Hospital Gen. (R) Zia ud Din Butt, Principal Prof. Anjam Habib Vohra, Prof. Agha Shabir Ali and other medical experts also addressed the symposium.

Gen. (R) Zia ud Din Butt said that the girls have taken lead over boys in higher education and women doctors are also coming in health sector. He said that the scientific symposium not only enhances the professional skills of doctors but also provides awareness in research being conducted in developed countries which further polishes their professional abilities. He also congratulated organizers and Principal Prof. Anjam Habib Vohra on successful holding of symposium.

Earlier, Anjam Habib Vohra in his address said that PGMI and Lahore General Hospital is providing teaching and training in 46 degree courses and has 24 Basic and Clinical Departments. He said that PGMI has been holding scientific symposium regularly for the last five years. Many scientific workshops were held, 36 best papers on medical research were read and poster exhibitions were held during this period, he added. Faculty members of Ameer ud Din Medical College, PGR and doctors attended the symposium.

Cash prizes and souvenirs were distributed among professors and doctors showing best performance, reading best research papers and organizers of the symposium.
