Prominent religious and political leaders addressing an all parties conference organized by the Jamaat e Islami for safeguarding the dignity of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) on Tuesday, called upon the government to hold an Islamic summit in Islamabad against the incidents of blasphemy of the Holy Prophet (pbuh) in the west and to decide a common line of action by the Muslim Ummah on this score.

They said the Pakistan government should have convened an OIC meeting after the repeated  publication of blasphemous caricatures and raised at the UN the issue that was hurting one and a half billion Muslims in the world. However, they said the government had not fulfilled their responsibility under the fear of the US and Europe. They demanded that the blasphemy of the Holy Prophet be declared an international crime like the blasphemy of Christ (AS).

They said that the anti Islam, Satanic forces were bent upon plunging the world into another war through a clash of civilizations.  They said that those linking Islam with terrorism were afraid of the fast spread of Islam and wanted to check this trend by terrifying the world in this way.

The conference was presided over by the Ameer, JIP, Sirajul Haq. Those attending the moot included Ameer, Jamat al Dawah, Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, chief of the JUI( S) chief Maulana Samiul Haq, former President Justice Muhammad Rafiq Tarar, Mufti Munibur Rahman, Maulana Syed Ataul Momin Bukhari, Qari Muhammad Hanif Jaulandhry, Federal Minister Saad Rafiq, PTI leader Mehmudur Rashid, former AJK Prime Minister Sardar Attiq  Ahmed Khan, JUI(F)’s Maulana Amjad Khan, Pir Ejaz Hashmi,   Christian leader J. Salik, Chairman, Gurdawara Parbandhak committee, Sardar Sham Singh and others.

Sirajul Haq, in his presidential address, said that there seemed to be no life in the Muslim rulers. All of them were faithful to the west and devoid of any religious sense of respect. He said, had the Pakistan government fulfilled its duty on this score, the religious parties would not have felt shy of praising its action. By initiating some action for safeguarding the dignity the Holy Prophet, the rulers would have earned respect in this world and heavy reward in the hereafter also.

Sirajul Haq stressed that the Muslim rulers should gather in Madina, the city of the Holy Prophet and vow to protect the dignity  of the Holy Prophet at every cost. He said this was not any political or sectarian issue, this was the collective issue of the Muslim Ummah.

Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, said that the leaders of forty western leaders at the rally in support of the blasphemer publication, had declared that all of them were Charlie.  In response, to them, he said , We Muslims pronounce that all of us are Muhammadis and we vow to stand united for the protection of the respect and dignity of the Holy Prophet.  He said that the Muslims rulers should have risen up on this sensitive issue and added that the disruption in the Ummah was basically due to the rulers indifference  on the issue. He said the Ummah should unite to awaken the rulers. He said the west and the US wanted to push the Muslims to the wall by branding them as terrorists.

Maulana Samiul Haq appreciated JI’s effort to unite the nation on a sensitive issue. He said that the matter could not be resolved through mere condemnations and some concrete step should be taken in this direction. He said the rulers were trying to making life difficult for the religious circles by trying to break the link between mosque and madrissahs, and said this was something intolerable.

PML(N) leader Saad Rafiq said that terrorism, extremism and violence in the world had increased

due to the partiality of the UN and the biases of the west. He said that the issues of the Muslim world including Kashmir, and  Palestine had not been resolved for decades which gave rise to despair and lawlessness. He said that the anti  Islam policies of the west were giving rise to violence among the Muslims. Kh. Saad Rafiq said the Pakistan government was trying to unite the Muslim world on this issue. He appreciated the statement of the Pope condemning blasphemy.

Chairman Ulema Council, Pakistan, Maulana Tahir Mehmud Ashrafi, demanded that all publications of the Qadyanis should also be banned for being against the Holy Prophet (pbuh).

A declaration adopted at the moot said that the joint rally by the heads of forty states in support of the blasphemer publication and its fresh publication in much bigger numbers, was a clear indication that the people in the west were not ready to check this trend that had been begun at the behest of the Zionist lobby and the US imperialism and had crossed all limits of human values, dignity and human rights.

The declaration stressed upon all Muslim states to make joint efforts for permanent end to the trend of blasphemy of the Holy Prophet (pbuh), all other prophets of Allah and all revealed religions by pronouncing it a crime under the articles two and four of the UN Human Rights Charter, punishable by death and the desecration of all revealed religions as a criminal offense.

The conference demanded that all Muslim states lodged a formal protest on official level with France and other European states which were patronizing such blasphemous publications. It said that if  this proved of no effect and the blasphemers were not punished, the Muslim states should announce break diplomatic, trade and cultural ties with these countries and boycott their products.

The joint declaration noted that the incidents of desecration of the Holy Quran at the Guantanamo bay prison, US Pastor Terry Jones condemnable attempt to set on fire copy of the Holy Quran and the rpe4ated publications of blasphemous caricatures in Denmark, Holland, and France, and other western countries were being ignored as freedom of expression and opinion while any criticism  on an individual, constitution, flag and the Zionist holocaust had been prohibited and declared a crime which clearly showed double standards.

The JI chief announced a steering committee under JI Secretary general Liaqat Baloch, to organize the movement against blasphemy. Its members included among others, Hafiz Abdur Rahman Makki, Maulana Amjad Khan, Kh. Saad Rafiq, Maulana Ameer Hamza, Hafiz Raza Kazim, Maulana Allah Wasaya, Pir Mehfooz Mashhadi, and others. He also announced that two separate delegations would be made to meet the envoys of different countries, in Islamabad,. One of these delegations would meet the ambassadors of the Muslim countries while the other would meet the envoys of the non Muslim countries and apprise them of the sentiments of the Muslims on this issue of Blasphemy. Besides, he said, a third delegation would visit the Muslim countries and mobilize them for taking a common line of action on the issue.
