Lahore: Chairman Punjab Information Technology Board Dr. Omar Saif has said that e-learning project is proving very useful for harmonizing the educational and teaching system of Punjab with international standard. He said that more than three lakh 17 thousand persons have benefited from this project so far whereas 250 government schools of Punjab have been linked with it through internet.
Narrating the details of the programme started under the supervision of Punjab Information Technology Board, he told that male and female students from sixth to 10thclass can visit website elearn.punjab.gov.pk and read the textbooks of science and math subjects which have been made easier and interesting through video games and pictures.
He said that the ability of understanding difficult subjects and topics will be created among the students through e-learning and the system of learning by rote will be eliminated. Dr. Umer Saif told that the training programme is also continuing for effective utilization of this programme throughout the province under which more than 2500 teachers of public and private schools have been provided training so far.
Stressing the importance of information technology, he said that we cannot compete with the developed countries until we inform our children and experts about the use of information technology. Dr. Umer Saif said that the objectives for which Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif had set up PITB are being achieved successfully.
