Rapid increase in production of PhDs by PU is a good omen: Dr Nizam uddin

Lahore: A 5-day International Conference on “Relativistic Astrophysics” to celebrate 100 years of Einstein’s Theory of General Relativity organized by Department of Mathematics in collaboration with Pakistan Academy of Sciences, Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics, International Mathematical Union and Pak Land Bulders has concluded at Al-Raazi hall here on Saturday.PU

Chairman Punjab Higher Education Commission Dr Nizam uddin, PU Vice Chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran, Chairman Department of Mathematics Dr Muhammad Sharif, Founder of Relativity Group in Pakistan Prof Dr Asghar Qadir and researchers from various parts of the world and country were present on the occasion.

In his address, Dr Nizam congratulated Department of Mathematics and university administration for organizing the conference and hoped that young research scholars would benefit from this opportunity. He said rapid increase in production of PhDs by Punjab University was a good omen and other universities should follow trend.

Dr Mujahid Kamran said that students had learnt from the scientists of international fame who had shared their knowledge and experience with them. He said that scholars could play their role in the development of country. Dr Muhammad Sharif thanked the participants and said that the conference had been fruitful and scholars would be able to resolve the problems in the respective field.

Later, Department of Mathematics presented Dr Uzma as best teacher and Akram Badshah as best employee of 2013-14 and awarded them with Rs 25,000 and 15,000 respectively with appreciation certificates.
