ISI is trustee of national security and solidarity : Ch Parvez Elahi

Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) senior central leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Ch Parvez Elahi has said that ISI was a prime institution of country’s defence and trustee (ameen) of national security and solidarity which has always rendered invaluable services for the defence of the motherland, Pak Army Chief Gen Raheel Sharif has rendered great services for the country through his foreign tours and highlighted the Kashmir issue, which was focus of Pakistan’s defence and foreign policy, in the best possible manner, this was the reason that the entire nation was paying tributes to him on his defence and diplomatic role.

Ch Parvez Elahi expressed these views while answering different questions from the media and PML delegations at his residence here today.

On a question about stopping the procession of Chief Justice Iftikhtar Muhammad Chaudhry on the way during his tenure as the Chief Minister, he said President General Pervez Musharraf and the then ISI chief General Pervez Kiyani had accepted his point and left the matter to the Punjab Govt, this was good thing on their part, result of which was very good with the blessings of Almighty Allah and the procession reached peacefully from Lahore to Islamabad whereas the statement of Imran Khan was on the record that not a single glass was broken. He reminded that whenever mischief propaganda was carried out and criticism unleashed against Pak Army and ISI, irrespective whether I was the govt of Nawaz Sharif or anyone else, PML President Ch Shujat Hussain, himself and entire party were first to raise voice in support of defence institutions, organized rallies throughout the country and also submitted a resolution in the assembly because we believe that to weaken Pak Army or ISI amounted to weakening of Pakistan, in war, terrorism or any natural calamity, services of Pak Army and great services for the motherland were the brighter chapter of our history, and now even the innocent children of the army officers and jawans by sacrificing their lives had become immortal forever.
