Government to lift the ban on the students unions:Sirajul Haq

Lahore: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Sirajul Haq,has called upon the government to lift the ban on the students unions to help promote democratic values in the country.

Speaking as chief guest at the 62nd annual congregation of the Islami Jamiat e Talaba at the Punjab University, on Saturday, he said the students were the vanguard of the Islamic revolution and they should be groomed for running the country.pic

The JI chief said the colonial powers did not want democracy to flourish in Muslims countries because dictators suited them most. He pointed out that in Egypt, the elected government of Dr Mursi was toppled with the help of a military general while power was not transferred to the elected people in Palestine and Algeria.

Sirajul Haq warned the government at the centre and in Sindh province that if they failed to provide justice to the families of 259 workers burnt to death at the Baldia Town factory, Karachi, their rule won’t last for long.  He said that the JIT report had been prepared by senior officials of the state agencies. However, he said, unfortunately, the courts and the law seemed to be helpless where big criminals were involved.

The JI chief said that the students had rendered highest sacrifices during the Pakistan movement but after the creation of the country, feudal lords and capitalists usurped power. Politics was turned into trade and merit became a major casualty. In fact, he said, the political pundits and Brahmans whom the Qauid e Azam wanted to oust from politics became the major power players in the country. Some of the families had made their parties as family affair while the major parties were giving full protection to each other’s corruption and plunder.

He said that the JI was the only party that was truly political and democratic as had been acknowledged by PILDAT and other institutions.

Sirajul Haq said that the Islamic movements all over the world were of the unanimous view that they did not require underground activities or guerilla warfare. The Holy Quran was their only weapon through which the hearts of the people could be won over.

He said that the world colonialism had been defeated on the front of argument after which the western powers and the US had taken up arms and showered tons of gunpowder in different Muslim countries to annihilate the Muslims for avenging their defeat and also to check the fast spread of Islam.

Siraj ul Haq has counseled Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif not be taken by the tricks of Indian Premier Modi who had been defeated at his home.

Asked to comment on Modi’s phone call to Nawaz Sharif, he told newsmen at the Punjab University on Saturday that Modi had suffered a humiliating defeat in New Delhi after which he was phoning different leaders in the region.

He said that Narendera Modi could not be Pakistan’s well-wisher. He stressed that Pakistan should keep the Kashmir issue at the top of the agenda for any talks with New Delhi.

To a question about the World Cup, Sirajul Haq said that all the players of the national team were his own and he loved them all. H said that heavy responsibility devolved on Shahid Afridi and Misbahul Haq as they were senior players.

He said that the senior players were imbued with the skill and a longing for victory, and he fully hoped that their planning and desire for victory would lead them to the high status of the World Champion.

The JI chief disapproved the idea of Valentine Day and said this was repugnant to Islamic teachings and principles. “We Muslims shower love and affection throughout the year whereas Valentine Day is celebrated by those who spread hatred all the year and had only a single day to talk of love.
