The first model women crisis center will be set up in Multan:Hameeda Waheed

Lahore: Provincial Minister for Women Development Hameeda Waheed-ud-Din has said that first model women crisis center will be set up in Multan for legal assistance and immediate help of women facing violence.  

She expressed these views while addressing a high level meeting of a subcommittee constituted regarding protection of women against domestic violence and rehabilitation bill 2015 on 8-Club Road, here today. Additional Secretary Ambreen Raza, secretaries and representatives of Social Welfare, Women Development and Law departments were present on the occasion.

Advisor to Chief Minister Salman Sadafi gave a detailed briefing through video link on the proposed bill of setting up of crisis center and the mechanism for immediate relief to the women against violence. The Minister informed that crisis centers will be set up throughout the province, where medical, psychological and legal aid will be provided to the women facing violence and these centers will work under the supervision of Social Welfare Department.

She said that Daar-ul-Aaman and crisis centers will be linked together and affected women will be provided immediate assistance through helpline. The meeting also discussed activation and up-gradation of crisis centers, removing hurdles and other matters in provision of relief to affected women.
