Lahore: Anti-Terrorism Court Lahore (I) has awarded death sentence on 47 counts to three terrorists involved in attack on Rescue 15 building and the office of Sensitive Institution in Lahore. Accused Abid Akram, Sarfraz and Shabeer are also awarded Life Imprisonment with a fine of Rs. 25.35 million each.
According to the Spokesperson of Prosecution Department the accused were arrested from Shahdara and Faisalabad after they attacked the office of rescue 15 and sensitive institution on May 27, 2009. A total of 26 people lost their lives and 337 were injured in the attack.
Later on, the attackers were identified through the CCTV footage and other evidences. They were tried in the anti terrorism court (I) of Lahore which sentenced them to Death on 47 counts today. The Court also awarded rigorous life imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 25.35 Million to each terrorist.
Rana Maqbool Ahmad, Special Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab and Former IG has congratulated the Prosecution Department for their success in convicting the terrorists. He said in his message that Prosecution Department is performing the key role in dispensation of justice to the society. People’s faith in the justice system will enhance after this decision, he added. Deputy Prosecutor General Rai Asif Mahmood represented the state in the case.
