Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt signs MoU on Defence Cooperation with the Tanzania

CAS signing MoULahore: Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Defence Cooperation with the Government of United Republic of Tanzania on behalf of the Government of Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Signing of this first ever historic MoU would be instrumental in formalizing staff talks, initiating mutual exchanges, strengthening military ties between the two countries.  It would open new vistas of collaboration in the domain of Operations, Training, Maintenance, Security and Information Technology between the two countries.

Earlier in the day, Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force, visited the Air Headquarters of Tanzania Air Force. On his arrival, he was received by Major General Joseph Furaha Kapwani, Commander Tanzania Air Force. A smartly turned out contingent presented him the Guard of Honour.

He was introduced to the Principal Staff Officers of Tanzania Air Force. He also attended a briefing on the organization, role and functioning of Tanzania Air Force. Later on, the Air Chief called on Major General Joseph Furaha Kapwani, Commander Tanzania Air Force in his office. During the meeting, matters pertaining to professional interest came under discussion. The Air Chief expressed satisfaction on the current level of cooperation between the two Air Forces and agreed to explore new avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation.

Later in the day, Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force, also called on General Davis Mwamunyange, Chief of the Defence Forces, Tanzania. Both the dignitaries remained together for some time and agreed to enhance cooperation between the two countries in general and the Air Forces in particular.

The Air Chief is on an official visit to Tanzania on the special invitation of Tanzanian Air Force.
