Lahore High Court Rawalpindi Bench and Anti-Terrorist Court Gujranwala have awarded two times death sentence, 14 times life imprisonment and fine of Rs. 20 lakh to eight terrorists today.
According to the spokesman of Prosecution Department, Lahore High Court Rawalpindi Bench while dismissing the appeal of six terrorists arrested with three vehicles loaded with explosive material at a CNG station of Sadiqabad Rawalpindi on June 6, 2008 has upheld the sentence of two times life imprisonment and fine of Rs. Two lakh to each terrorist awarded by Anti-Terrorist Court-II, Rawalpindi.
The accused had filed an appeal in Lahore High Court against the decision of Anti-Terrorist Court-II which was dismissed today. The Bench comprising Justice Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah and Justice Zulqarnain Saleem while announcing the decision has upheld two times life imprisonment and fine of Rs.2 lakh each to accused Intikhab Ahmed Abbasi, Abid Khan, Muhammad Ishaq, Muhammad Kabir, Qamar Zaman and Zafar Ali u/s 302 and 7ATA. Deputy Prosecutor General Muhammad Usman and Standing Counsel Raja Faisal represented the state in the case.
Ms Bushra Rehman, Judge of Anti-Terrorist Court-II Gujranwala has awarded two times death sentence to Muzammil Hussain and two times life imprisonment to Muhammad Umair, terrorists of defunct organization in murdering Khalifa Rehmat Ali.
The court has also imposed fine of Rs.4 lakh each to both terrorists. According to the details, both the accused belonged to a defunct organization and were involved in sectarian terrorist activities.
A case of attack on two Imambarghs of Gujranwala by accused Muhammad Umair is also under hearing in this court. Deputy Prosecutor General Nasir Ali represented the state in this case.
