Country plunged into darkness due to power breakdown

Lahore: The whole country has plunged into darkness on Saturday night as power breakdown due to a fault in national Grid.Govt officials said that 220KV Guddu-Quetta transmission line tripped, causing power outage around,Tripping at the National Grid caused a cascading effect resulting in the countrywide breakdown.

KESCO chief told the media that electricity is needed to run the private power house but there is electricity event to ignite the powerhouse.Power supply has been stopped to Balochistan due to tripping in Gaddu transmission resulting power outage in 29 districts of Balochistan,he added.

WAPDA sources revealed that 80% area of the country has plunged into darkness due to a fault in NTDC system.It would take 4 to 5 hours to repair the National Grid,the WAPDA officials claimed.
