Siraj ul Haq writes to heads of state on blasphemy

Siraj ul HaqLahore: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Sirajul Haq, in a letter addressed to twenty eight heads of states besides the Secretaries General of the United Nations and the OIC, have strongly condemned the publication of blasphemous caricatures in France, and called for UN legislation prohibiting blasphemy of all the Prophets (AS) of Allah.

He has impressed upon the world community to declare due respect for all the Prophets (AS) and the revealed books as mandatory, and demanded that anyone, expressing faith in any religion, committing any such action, must be charged with crime against humanity and proceeded accordingly.

The letter has been addressed to the heads of states including those of France, Denmark, Britain, Italy, Germany, the US and the Secretaries General of the UN and the OIC.

The JI chief, in his communication, said that the publication of caricatures of the Holy Prophet (SAW) and attempt to disgrace the Nobel Prophet had caused unrest and deep concern throughout the Muslim world and it was high time that necessary legal measures were taken to prevent the repetition of such a practice.

Sirajul Haq said that the Muslims had full respect for all religions, the Prophets AS) of Allah and all human beings, therefore, the same right should also be conceded to the Muslim Ummah and its holiest personality, of the Muslim Ummah.

He said that a small community could not be given the right to disturb the peace in any country, region or the entire world. He said that all the religions and the prophets of God should be accorded equal respect and every state should frame strict laws in this respect.

The JI chief also condemned the biased actions in some European states against the mosques and the Muslim citizens and said that harsh actions of these states against their own citizens would only increase unrest.

The JI chief, in his letter, further said that the JI strongly condemned all forms and kinds of terrorism. However, he said, the JI desired that the world at large diagnosed the root causes of  terrorism and adopted necessary steps to remove these.
