Lahore: A students convention was held in the memory of martyrs of Peshawar tragedy on the completion of one month at auditorium complex of University of Engineering & Technology, today. Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Vice Chancellors of all public and private universities of Lahore, faculty members, delegations of students, representative delegations of schools and colleges and prominent personalities belonging to all segments of society were present on the occasion.
Rana Mashud Ahmad and the participants of the convention reiterated the determination that they will not forget martyrs of Peshawar incident. They said that the blood of martyrs will not go waste and collective efforts will be made for the maintenance of peace in the country.
Addressing the convention, Rana Mashhood Ahmad said that the incident of Peshawar shook the entire nation on December 2014. He said that the youth are united and their morale is high and they are ready to defeat the enemies of Pakistan. He said that government is working for the capacity building of young generation.
Earlier, prominent intellectuals Amjad Islam Amjad, Dr. Khursheed Rizvi, Sohail Ahmad, religious scholar Prof. Muhammad Yousaf Khan, Bishop of Lahore Irfan Nazeer, Giyani Malindar Singh also spoke on the occasion.
The students presented national songs of Ahmad Nadeem Qasmi and Allama Iqbal. Those who participated in the convention included cricket players Nasir Jamshaid and Azhar Ali, TV Compere Samia Naqvi, Parliamentary Secretary Education Mehwish Sultana, Chairman Punjab Higher Education Commission Dr. Nizam-ud-Din, former VC UET Lahore Lt.Gen.(R) Muhammad Akram Khan, VC UET Lahore Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid, VC Punjab University Dr. Mujahid Kamran, VC GC University Lahore Dr. Khaliq-ur-Rehman and VC LCWU Dr. Sabiha Mansoor as well as Begum Rana Mashhood along with her three daughters.
