JI Shoora demands for befitting reply to India

Lahore: The Central Shoora of the Jamaat e Islami Pakistan while strongly condemning the persistent and unprovoked Indian firing at the borders and the working boundary, has said that in fact, the Hindu Banya would not give up its aggressive approach unless there was a befitting reply from this side.

A resolution adopted by the Shoora expressed full sympathies with the families living on the boundary line and called upon the government to reply India’s provocations in the same coin. It also called for reasonable compensation to the families incurring losses of life, cattle head and property due to the enemy shelling.pic liaqat baloch

Through another resolution, the Shoora expressed deep concern over the problems being faced by around eight million tribal people living at the Pak- Afghan border. It deplored that all the past rulers had kept this area outside the purview of the constitution, the parliament and the judiciary while the black law of the FCR had prevailed there since 1901 till today. It noted that the notorious Action in Aid of the Civil Power Regulation approved by ex-President Zardari still going on there. Because of these factors, the tribal people were denied basic civic political, economic and education rights and the life and property of no one was secure. Even the 21st constitutional amendment kept the tribal people out of its purview.

The resolution noted that the tribal area had been heavily destroyed due to the NATO/ US attacks in Afghanistan, drone attacks and the military operations and had also created the problem of about three million IDPs. The JI Shoora, therefore, urged the government to end the state of war in the FATA and amend he article 247 of the constitution to enable the tribal people lead peaceful lives and enjoy basic civic rights.

In another resolution, the JI Shoora expressed grave concern over the Karachi situation for the last three decades. It and noted that during the year 201r only, as many as 2800 citizens were put to death in the city. These also included 148 personnel. It said that , in spite of the on-going targeted operation since September 2013, the Mega city remained in the control of extortionist, target killers , dacoits and those carrying out abductions for ransom. The target killing of doctors, Ulema and political workers was going on.

The resolution said that on one hand, the government talked of operation but on the other hand, it was soft for the terrorists having political affiliation. It demanded indiscriminate arrests of those involved in target killers, extortionists and dacoits. It also demanded reconstruction of the Karachi timber market and the houses demolished by the recent fire.

In a resolution on the Balochistan situation, the Shoora stressed that necessary steps should be taken to create a sense of participation in national affairs, politics and governance among the Baloch people. It said that a relief package was not the answer to the problems of the people of Balochistan and they must be given lawful share in the country’s resources besides justice at their door step. The extra judicial killings of the youth and the women must be stopped. The Shoora also planned to hold a jirga on February one at Sibbi to raise an effective voice for the solution of the people’s problems and to strengthen the JI in the province. The Shoora endorsed the JI Chief’s proposal to lead a national leaders delegation to the mountains for meeting with the estranged Baloch leaders and for bringing them to the national main stream.
