Special Children celebrate birthday of Hakim Muhammad Saeed

Minister Special EducationLahore: Provincial Minister for Special Education Asif Saeed Manhais has said that government is taking all possible steps for rehabilitation of special children so that they could discharge their responsibilities themselves instead of becoming burden on the society.

He said this while addressing a seminar held in connection with birthday of Hakim Muhammad Saeed and national day of Naunehalan-e-Pakistan under the aegis of Hamdard Pakistan. President Hamdard Foundation Sadia Raashid, prominent lawyer Shahzada Kabeer Ahmed, Dr. Aalia Aftab MPA, Principal Shalimar Special Education Center Zaib-un-Nisa also addressed the function.

Asif Saeed Manhais said that special children are asset of the nation who cannot be neglected. He said although Allah Almighty has deprived special children of some abilities but bestowed them with such qualities as are not found in a normal person. He said that despite difficulties, special children are getting education. He said that Punjab government has set up a special committee for providing facilities to special children and persons in every walk of life. Saeed Manhais said that besides providing free education and other facilities, government is also providing educational scholarships to special children. He said that government is endeavoring to make special children self-reliant by providing modern education and training. He asked civil society and NGOs to lend helping hand to the government in rehabilitation and provision of education to special children so that they could lead their lives like other normal children. He said that more than 600 special children are getting education in normal schools.

Special children presented colorful programmes. The Provincial Minister appreciated performance of the children and distributed cash and other prizes among them.
