Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif paid a five hours long visit to Elite Police Training School Badian Road today and besides inspecting the training programme of the under-training corporals also reviewed overall law and order situation and security arrangements in a high level meeting. He appreciated the standard of training of the corporals and congratulated the experts of Pak-Army, Punjab police and Turkey. He visited the classroom of under-training corporals and lauded the standard of their training.
The Chief Minister said that Punjab government has made recruitments in police and all other departments purely on merit during the last six years. He said that recruitment in anti-terrorist force have also been made in a highly transparent manner. He said that training of anti-terrorist force is in the final stages and its first batch will complete its training by the end of this month. Shahbaz Sharif said that the whole nation has become united in the war against terrorism and political and military leadership is determined to root out this menace from the country. He said that terrorists and their facilitators are going to meet their logical end and 18 crore people of the country will win the war against terrorism at any cost. He said that terrorists will find no place to hide in Pakistan.
Addressing a high level meeting at Police Training School Badian Road, the Chief Minister directed that security arrangements in educational institutions should be completed under the security plan evolved for this purpose. He said that effective monitoring of security arrangements in schools, colleges and universities be ensured while implementation of the security plan be made binding on private educational institutions as well. He said that Education Minister, Secretaries of Schools Education, Higher Education, DCOs and DPOs of the concerned districts should personally supervise security measures. He said that private educational institutions will also have to adopt security measures and no compromise will be made on security arrangements in educational institutions. He said that cabinet committee on law and order should review security arrangements on regular basis.
The Chief Minister said to the under-training corporals that the nation has high hopes of them and there is heavy responsibility on their shoulders to rid the country of the menace of terrorism. He said that Jawans like them are heroes of the nation and anti-terrorist force personnel should perform their duties regarding protection of life and property of citizens with a national spirit. He expressed the hope that they will be able to eradicate terrorists, extremists and their facilitators from the country with the support of the nation.
Referring to the tragic incident in Peshawar, Shahbaz Sharif said that the martyrdom of innocent children and their teachers had aggrieved the whole nation and the brutal murderers and their facilitators will be brought to justice. He said that anti-terrorist force in Punjab will play an effective role in the war against terrorism.
The Chief Minister said that evolving of service structure of anti-terrorist force should also be considered. He said that operation against miscreants and suspects should be continued in the province. He issued orders for stern action against the elements involved in misuse of loud speaker, publication and distribution of provocative literature as well as delivering objectionable speeches and wall-chalking. He directed that the shops selling sectarian literature and CDs should be sealed immediately and action be taken against them. He said that administrative and police officers showing good performance in this regard will be encouraged.
Shahbaz Sharif directed that strict security checking of entry and exit points of the province as well as motorway be ensured. The meeting was given a detailed briefing regarding security measures for educational institutions as well as law and order situation in the province. The Chief Minister also met the commandos of the elite police who foiled an attempt of terrorism in Raiwind area and appreciated their performance. Lauding the courage and bravery of the commandos, he said that the whole nation is proud of them. He also visited Canine Centre set up in Abbas Line and taking notice of use of substandard material in the construction of the center ordered an inquiry. He also reprimanded the concerned officials.
Shahbaz Sharif directed that proper arrangements should be made for looking after sniffer dogs. Provincial Minister for Home Col. (R) Shuja Khanzada, Provincial Minister for Law Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed, Assembly Members Rana Sanaullah, Zaeem Hussain Qadri, Special Assistant Rana Maqbool Ahmed, Inspector General Police, concerned secretaries, Commandant Elite Police Training School and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
