SBP will hold mega sports events in the 2015:Usman Anwar

Director General Sports Punjab Usman Anwar Lahore: The new calendar year 2015 has started and we have launched our fresh sporting campaign with new spirits. Sports Board Punjab (SBP) has already set its goals for the new calendar year and with the grace of God, it will achieve its target within the stipulated period, these determinations were made by Director General Sports Punjab Usman Anwar while talking to media at National Hockey Stadium on Tuesday.

Usman Anwar said SBP has planned to give Pakistan nation some heartening news in the next 12 months period. “Apart from holding mega sports events in the 2015, four new sports venues – Tennis Stadium, Swimming Pool, Boxing Academy and Squash Court will also be completed in 2015,” he added. “These sporting venues will definitely be a remarkable addition to the existing sporting facilities in Nishter Park Sports Complex”.

Elaborating his plans, DG SBP said that the modern swimming pool has been equipped with all international level facilities and it will start functioning in the next couple of months. “Recently, an American expert Alan Carr visited swimming pool and installed computerized software, electronic jumping pad and scoreboard in the swimming pool at Nishtar Park Sports Complex,” he informed.

Usman informed that the US expert has also delivered a detailed lecture to SBP officials about the functioning of electronic and software systems in the pool. “The rules and regulations of FINA, the International Swimming Body, have also been followed properly while designing this project,” he told.

DG SBP further said that maximum construction work of the pool has been completed and final touches are being given to this grand project. “The SBP swimming pool which is equipped with filtration and electronic systems, will be the first of its kind in the history of Pakistan. “There will be a facility of warm and cold water in the swimming pool and the temperature of the water can be changed as per requirement of the swimmers and weather conditions,” he disclosed.

Answering a query he said that the tennis stadium, boxing academy and squash court are also being given equal attention and these sports venues will also be operational in the coming months. “After holding Punjab Youth Festival and other international sporting events in 2014, we got invaluable exposure and we are utilizing this experience while designing our stadia as per international requirements,” he explained.

He said that the new sporting facilities will help Pakistan in producing several world class sports stars in future. “Our country has plenty of potential in every field including sports. It just needs proper grooming and international level facilities and training and SBP is doing exactly that to make the future of Pakistan sports bright,” he further said.
