Lahore: Director General Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Dr Ahmad Javaid Qazi has said that preparations have been started for coping with any seasonal changes and effects in Cholistan. He said that Cholistan Drought Management Authority (CDMA) and PDMA will evolve a joint strategy in this regard so that people and livestock and environment should be saved. He said that Meteorological Department will install radar to get weather report and evolve a strategy for the protection of residents of Cholistan.
He expressed these views while addressing a meeting regarding Cholistan. Syed Naeem MD, CDA, Chief Meteorologist Riaz Ahmed, Director Coordination & Response Shahid Zaman Lak, Director MIS Athar Ashraf, Policy Advisor Hameed Malik, Assistant Director Nisar Ahmed Sani as well as other officers were present on the occasion.
Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi said that Meteorological Department will provide every kind of weather information through its radar system so that pre-arrangements could be made for the protection of human beings, cattle and other living creatures. He said that water, food, medicines and other necessary items will be stored in Cholistan so that it could be utilized at any emergent situation. He said that all departments will hold their meetings and give information so that a joint strategy could be evolved in this regard.
