Lahore: A delegation of Pakistan Kissan Ittehad led by its Central President Khalid Mehmood Khokhar met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, here today and thanked him for resolving problems of farmers on priority basis. The members of the delegation while paying tributes to Shahbaz Sharif on immediate steps for abolishing export duty on potato and resolving other problems said that the Chief Minister has won the hearts of farmers by resolving their problems on priority basis. President Pakistan Kissan Ittehad, Khalid Mehmood Khokhar said that Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has resolved problems of farmers by taking personal interest, upon which, they are thankful to him.
Talking to the delegation, Shahbaz Sharif said that agriculture is the backbone of national economy and the role of farmers is of great importance in agri economy. He said that Punjab government will continue to take steps for the promotion of agriculture and prosperity of farmers. The Chief Minister said that the government will ensure protection of interests of farmers. He said that a concrete strategy has been adopted for promotion of agriculture economy and development of agriculture sector. He said that effective steps have been taken for the welfare of farmers. Provincial Minister for Agriculture, Dr. Farrukh Javed, MPA Rana Sanaullah, MNA Chaudhry Iftikhar Nazir, central office-bearers of Kisan Ittehad Rizwan Iqbal, Mian Farooq and others were present on the occasion.
