Lahore: In order to express solidarity on Peshawar tragedy, Pakistan Muslim League (PML) has postponed its public meeting in Chunian which was to be held on Sunday, December 21, and now it will be held on Tuesday December 30.
This was announced by PML leaders while addressing a press conference at the Muslim League House here this afternoon. Earlier this decision was taken in a meeting presided over by senior central leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Ch Parvez Elahi and attended among others by chief of the Organizing Committee Moonis Elahi besides party’s regional office-bearers and leaders.
Briefing the media afterwards Sardar Talib Nakai, Sardar Asif Nakai, MPA Sardar Vickas Hassan Mokal, Dr Azeemuddin Zahid Lakhvi, Khalid Mumtaz and Rao Shahid Munir along with Mian Munir, Amna Ulfat and other leaders said that all arrangements and preparations regarding holding of the public meeting on December 21 have been finalized and the district administration has also given its permission despite lot of dilly dallying tactics, this public meeting will also be historical one like Bahawalpur Insha-Allah which will prove that PML has its roots among the masses and because of historical and ideal works of Ch Parvez Elahi during his tenure as the Chief Minister Punjab was popular party of people hailing from all segments of the society including workers, labourers, traders, students and employees.
However, they said further, tragedy of the Army Public School had occurred in Peshawar where our innocent and beloved children were made victims of terrorism mercilessly and holi of blood of the teachers and staff was played, all this was unparalleled in the history. They said that our leaders Ch Shujat Hussain, . Ch Parvez Elahi and Moonis Elahi were the firsts to express solidarity and express heartfelt grief and sorrow with the bereaved families and relatives of the martyred students and others whereas all political activities of the party were also banned till December 30, in these circumstances in consultation with the regional leadership of the party it was decided to postpone the public meeting, on this occasion express full solidarity on behalf of the PML with the bereaved families of the Shuhda of Peshawar once again and announce that we share their grief and sorrow at this difficult time and Insha-Allah their blood will not go waste.
The PML leaders also expressed their gratitude to all the leaders, workers, students, colleagues and the people at large who have made full preparations for actively and effectively participate in the upcoming public meeting and hope that they would accept the decision of postponement of December 21 public meeting with good intentions and national spirit and would participate with greater enthusiasm in the public meeting on December 30, make it historical one and ensure its great success in all respects.
