Lahore: Condolence references to express solidarity with heirs of the martyrs of Peshawar incident were separately held today in MAO College and Central Model High School, Lahore. The participants included Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashud Ahmad Khan along with the authorities of school and higher education, heads of educational institutions and a number of students. Fateha Khawani and one minute silence was observed to express solidarity with the cause of struggle against terrorism in Pakistan.
Rana Mashud Ahmad Khan, in his address to the participants of both the references, reiterated the nation’s resolve to meet the challenge of terrorism with complete unity. He said, the sacrifices of those who embraced martyrdom in this struggle will not go in vain. We will convert this agony into spirit to weed out the menace of terrorism, from our country. These terrorists are the enemies of enlightenment through seeking knowledge. These elements will be dealt with iron hands and will be eliminated once for all, for which the whole nation has to play their role in making the concerted efforts in this regard, the minister added.
Later on, a special meeting of Divisional Directors (Colleges) was held in the University of Education, Bank Road Campus Lahore to review the security measures of all the educational institutions in Punjab. Secretary High Education Punjab Abdullah Khan Sumbal presided over the meeting. It was decided to make re-appropriation in the funds available for the development of educational institutions to facilitate installation of CCTV system in all the public sector colleges in the province according to protocols of the SoPs recently issued by the Home Department in this connection.
