KBD is very important for the survival of country : Ch Shujaat Hussain

Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League-Q President Ch Shujaat Hussain on Tuesday said Kalabagh dam (KBD) is very important for the survival of country without which energy crisis can never be tamed. He said that PML-Q will remove obstacles hindering construction of KBD including amendment in the Article 161 of the constitution.

Ch Shujaat Hussain said this while talking to veteran social and political activist Raja Jahangir Akhtar who has initiated a hinder strike to get the said article amended.

Senior PML-Q leader Moonis Elahi, former president ICCI Zafar Bakhtawri and others were also present on the occasion.

Shujaat said that amendment in the Article 161 is very important and that Ch Pervaiz Elahi will present the amendment bill in the next session.He said that ANP and some nationalists are opposing KBD but if their reservations are taken into consideration they may change their stance. The seasoned politicians said that we will try best for double compensation and all possible facilities to those who would be affected by the construction of KBD.He said that KBD can help government earn billions of dollars while its absence can transform country into a desert. He asked Jahangir Akhtar to end his hunger strike as his demand has been noticed.

Speaking on the occasion, Jahangir Akhtar said that people would have not opposed KBD if those effected in Pothohar by Mangla Dam were not dealt like enemies. He said that he wants all the major political parties to move amendment bill with full consensus as the adoption of bill will remove major hindrance in construction of KBD because Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa will get billions in profit.
