Lahore: Pakistan’s men and women kabaddi teams will launch their Kabaddi World Cup campaign on December 9 .
National men’s team will take on Denmark at Nehru Stadium, Roopnagar while the women squad will lock horns with Mexico at the same venue. Both the matches will begin at 11.30am PST. Pakistan’s men and women kabaddi teams have been placed in Pool ‘B’ in the grand event.
Men’s Kabaddi skipper Shafiq Ahmed Chishti, in a telephonic talk with SBP spokesman, has said that his team was quite upbeat on eve of their opening match in the mega event. “Our boys are mentally and physically prepare to face strong outfits in the league matches. We are watching the World Cup matches minutely and focusing on the weak and strong areas of the participating teams. This practice will help us in chalking out an effective game plan for the next key encounters,” he explained.
Experienced female player Madiha Lateef, who is leading the national women Kabaddi team for second time in the World Cup, has expressed her hope that Pakistan team will not face any difficulty in the league round matches. “Our girls are well prepared for their first match against Mexico. We are here for the last couple of days and our girls have acclimatized well ahead of our first encounter of the World Cup,” she described.
