Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League -Q senior central leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Ch Pervaiz Elahi has condemned in strong words that economic murder of phutti growers and zamindars, who earn precious foreign exchange for Pakistan, was being committed due to which farmers in particular of South Punjab were very much worried.
He said this while talking to a delegation of farmers who called on him under the leadership of MNA Tariq Bashir Cheema at his residence here.
He said Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) which was responsible for procurement of cotton as a govt organization was creating problems for farmers and ginners on different excuses, procurement was not being done by raising objections just for nothing due to which farmer was facing worst financial crisis because on sowing cotton along with his hard work he utilizes fertilizers and pesticides which he secures on loan and does cultivating by using costly electricity and diesel but he was fearful of his entire hard work and investment going to be wasted and this would make repayment of loans difficult for him.
Ch Parvez Elahi said further that the govt was not paying any attention to the complaints of cotton growers and ginners due to which they were highly disappointed. He said that our vision was that if farmer was prosperous then Punjab as well as Pakistan would become prosperous and this was a fact but N-League rulers were not concerned in this regard, they were increasing difficulties and problems for them instead of solving the farmers problems and ensuring procurement of their produce on the fixed prices like in our tenure and because of this satisfied farmer of our time was today worried and disappointed.
