CDGL to devise a method of direct transferring the monthly pension

Lahore: Inchrarge Mohtasib Punjab Pension Cell, Wazir Ahmad Qureshi has directed City District Government Lahore to devise a method of direct transferring the amount of monthly pension & family pension to the bank accounts of pensioners to save them from the agonies of wait in quos and physical presence in the offices at Jinnah Hall every month.

By introducing proposed pension transfer method, the pensioners would be able to draw amount of pension from their bank accounts through cheque or ATM, as and when they require. He issued these directions during his visit to Jinnah Hall and meeting with officers of National Bank, Punjab Bank and Accounts & Pension Section of CDGL.

Wazir Ahmad Qureshi paid visit to Jinnah Hall on the directions of Ombudsman Punjab Javed Mahmood aiming at to listen the complaints and review the problems of pensioners of CDGL.

Wazir Ahmad Qureshi told that Ombudsman Punjab Javed Mahmood received a number of complaints about payment of pension and insufficient facilities for the old pensioners.

Ombudsman Punjab directed Incharge Mohtasib Punjab Pension Cell, Wazir Ahmad Qureshi to visit personally and review the arrangements made by the banks and CDGL for disbursement of pension. Wazir Ahmad Qureshi, during his visit to Jinnah Hall, directed CDGL to devise a plan for direct transfer of pensionary amount of retired employees of CDGL & defunct Metropolitan Corporation Lahore to their bank accounts to save them from hazards of physical presence in front of the offices of CDGL and agony of wait in long quos every month.

He directed CDGL officers to consult Accountant General Punjab and avail the expertise of PIFRA project, introduced by Auditor General of Pakistan, for direct transfer of pension to bank accounts of the employees of provincial and federal government. He told that the retired employees of CDGL would be able to draw their pensionary amount from their bank accounts through cheque or ATM as and when required.

Wazir Ahmad Qureshi asked the pensioners to get open accounts in their nearby banks for direct transfer of pensionary amount. He also directed CDGL to sensitize retired employees and motivate them in this regard. Wazir Ahmad Qureshi announced to visit Jinnah Hall next month to review the progress. He also met retired employees of CDGL, paid attention to their problems and issued directions to the authorities for redressal of their grievances.
