Hamza Shahbaz to distribute awards among volunteers on International Volunteers Day

Lahore: On the occasion of International Volunteers Day, Provincial Department for Youth Affairs Punjab is holding a peace conference on Friday, December 05 at 02:00pm at Punjabi Complex Ferozpur Road Lahore.

Member National Assembly Hamza Shahbaz Sharif and Provincial Minister for Education and Youth Affairs Punjab Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan will especially participate in the conference. Awards would be given to 10 volunteers who displayed outstanding performance during 2014 and 10 best case studies will also be presented on the occasion.

A cultural programme, a documentary film of short duration and panel discussion will be part of the programme. The conference will help increase youth awareness on volunteerism and encourage youth to participate in voluntary actions towards peace-building in communities with a greater aim to counter violent extremism in Pakistan and create a counter-narrative for peaceful Pakistan.

Rana Mashud Ahmad Khan along with Executive Director of an organization for the development of youth “Bargad” Dr. Sabiha Shaheen and Director of welfare organization “Umeed-e-Jawwan” Dr. Abdul Saboor while giving details about aims and objectives of peace conference to the journalists at Lahore Press Club said that by promoting volunteerism, youth can make preparations for achieving the goals of development as our heroes have served the nation by getting a high place in their profession.
