Khalil Tahir Sindhu presides over a meeting to review problems faced by Christians

Lahore: Provincial Minister for Minorities Affairs and Human Rights Khalil Tahir Sindhu presided over a meeting to review problems being faced by Christians and other minorities regarding registration of marriage.

Secretary Minorities Affairs and Human Rights Punjab Javed Iqbal, Pastor Shahid Meraj and representatives of Local Government department were present in the meeting which reviewed problems faced by Christians and other minorities in the registration of marriage.

Provincial Minister directed that a mechanism be formulated with the consultation of representatives of minorities with regard to registration of marriage/divorce for removing hurdles in this regard. He said that appointment of marriage registrar and amendment in the marriage act should be made with mutual consultation. He said that all citizens have equal rights under the constitution and these are upheld by the state.
