Lahore: Chairman Organising Committee and Chairman Executive Council of APA, Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed has emphasized to take concrete steps for the formation of Asian Parliament, adding that five major cooperation areas that needed to be addressed on priority bases were Economy, Education, Energy, Extremism and Environment. He was addressing a press conference after the 7th Plenary Session of Asian Parliamentary Assembly, here at Lahore.
Earlier, Senator Mushahid Husain, also spoke at the inaugural session and assured the member delegates that whatever is decide regarding the Asian Parliament, will be with cooperation, coordination and connectivity. “In this historically, culturally and politically important city, we will witness our vision being matched with action”, he said.
He also congratulated to Azerbaijan, who was an observer state of APA and given membership of the Assembly later in the day for its commitment and interest in its aims.
Senator Mushahid hoped that Asian Parliament would become the institutional voice of the Asian people and the destiny of Asian people must be decided by Asians themselves in Asia, world’s biggest and populous continent.The President APA and Chairman Senate Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari formally declared the 7th annual plenary session of the assembly open. It may be noted that the 7th plenary of APA is being held in Lahore from 1st to 3rd December.
About 130 delegates from 25 member countries and 8 observers are participating in the Asian Parliamentary Assembly. A 25 member Pakistani delegation led by Raja Zafar ul Haq comprises of Senators, Members of National and Provincial Assemblies.
