
In his opening remarks Senator Mushahid Hussain thanked the members for injecting ‘new life, vigour and will into the APA, adding that ever since Pakistan took over the Presidency of APA, within a year, 4 major meetings have been held’. He said Pakistan was providing leadership with ideas, issues and initiatives and the Asian Parliament.
Referring to a request from the delegate from Palestine, Senator Mushahid Hussain said ‘Palestine is dear to the hearts of Pakistanis and Lahore is where support for Palestine has always emanated. In 1940, the founder of Pakistan, Quaid-E-Azam Muhammed Ali Jinnah proposed a resolution for the Palestinian state on March 23, 1940, and in 1974, the Islamic Summit at Lahore accorded recognition to the PLO as the sole legitimate representative of the people of Pakistan.
19 resolutions were also approved by the Executive Council of APA.
Later, in the afternoon, the guests attended a luncheon hosted by the Leader of Opposition in the Senate, Ch Aitzaz Ahsan. They also went sightseeing in Lahore.
