Lahore: A Ski Federation of Pakistan (SFP) contingent comprising 01 male and 01 female athlete has reached Austria to participate in International Ski Federation (FIS) Alpine Training Camp. The FIS Alpine Training Camp is organised each year in Stubaital and Hintertux, Austria under the FIS Development Program.
The month long training camp would provide Muhammad Karim and Ms. Ifrah Wali an opportunity to train along world class skiers in a competitive environment. The camp focuses on polishing the alpine ski skills besides enhancing the physical fitness of the athletes. The camp would culminate on 20th December. It is worth mentioning here that Karim participated in the same training camp last year, which proved instrumental in his qualification for Olympic Winter Games 2014 Sochi, Russia. Whereas Ms Ifrah has represented Pakistan in the 1st South Asian Winter Games held in India and won a gold medal.
SFP is paying special attention towards training of female athletes and aims at sending a female athlete in Olympic Winter Games 2018 to be held in Pyeong Chang, Republic of Korea. The President SFP, Air Marshal Sohail Gul Khan has laid special emphasis on the fact that SFP must continue training hard for the mega event and use the available time to the fullest in order to earn a respectable position on the skiing map of the world.
