Lahore: Central Leader of PML(N) Hamza Shahbaz Sharif MNA has said that traders’ community is the backbone of national economy. He said that all demands of traders regarding tax collection and their complaints and reservations about FBR will be removed. He said that the issue of SRO-608 for tax collection will be resolved on return of Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar to the country.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting of the committee set up on the direction of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif for resolving the problems of traders’ community at Chief Minister’s office today. Members of the committee MNA Pervaiz Malik, Mian Manan, Rana Sanaullah, presidents of important chambers of commerce and representatives of traders attended the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, Hamza Shahbaz said that traders’ community play an important role in the development and prosperity of the country. He stressed the need for formulating such tax laws for the promotion of trade in the country to which traders’ community should not hesitate in adopting these laws and fully support their enforcement. He said that any impracticable law benefits less to the country and more to those implementing it.
Hamza Shahbaz said that redtapism is the big hurdle in the development process. He said that PML(N) government does not believe in taking and implementing the decisions in isolation. He said that present government wants to make people partner in all its decisions.
Hamza Shahbaz said that taking care of reservations of traders’ community is essential while making laws regarding tax collection. He said that any law creating problems for traders will be reconsidered. He said that present government is struggling for revival of economy with the same spirit and determination.
Hamza Shahbaz assured the traders’ representatives that all problems of traders including SRO-608 will be resolved and the vision of prosperous and developed Pakistan of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif will be implemented by promoting trade and industry. Earlier, traders’ representatives Iftikhar Kutab, Asad Mashadi and others while expressing their views about the problems and demands of traders said that SRO-608 is creating problems for traders particularly small shopkeepers which is also affecting trade activities. They also expressed their reservations about the powers of FBR officers regarding implementation of this law.
