Lahore: Director General Provincial Disaster Management Authority Dr Ahmad Javaid Qazi has said that on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, the process of provision of relief and rehabilitation of flood affectees has been completed within a record period. He was presiding over a meeting at the completion of relief package for flood affectees, here today.
Dr Ahmad Javaid Qazi said that under Winter Package, 25 thousand quilts of high quality worth two crore and 50 lakh rupees have been distributed among calamity-hit people. He said that these quilts have been given to poor flood affected families. Giving details, he said that 900 quilts have been distributed among flood affected people in Narowal, 900 in Sialkot, 900 in Sargodha, 850 in Khushab, 850 in Sheikhupura, 700 in Khanewal, 600 in Jhelum, 400 in Gujranwala, 400 in Gujrat, 800 in Mandi Bahauddin, 2400 in Chiniot, 4400 in Jhang, 3600 in Muzaffargarh, 3000 in Multan, 700 in Bahawalpur and 3600 in Hafizabad.
He said that distribution of quilts in all affected districts was supervised by committees comprising provincial ministers and elected representatives and a comprehensive survey of the affected districts was conducted for this purpose. He said that the process of rehabilitation of flood affectees has been completed today. He said that earlier, a huge sum of 16 billion rupees was distributed among the calamity-hit people in the first and the second phase of the relief package.
