Jehad and Qital permissible for the Muslims only in the name of Allah:Syed Munawar Hasan

syed munawar hasanLahore: Former Ameer of the Jamaat e Islami Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan, has said that Jehad and Qital were permissible for the Muslims only in the name of Allah, and fighting for any personal cause, prejudice, property and wealth was nothing but mischief.

He said the slaves of the western powers and those thriving on the funds doled out by the west would have deleted the verses on Jehad from the Holy Quran if only they could do that. He was talking to the media men from Karachi and other parts of the country, at Mansoora on Monday.

Syed Munawar Hasan said, “ We talk of Jehad, Qital and Infaq (spending) in the name of Allah so that the divine injunctions in this regard could be complied with”. He said, had the culture of Jehad and Qital not been so widespread in Afghanistan, Britain, Soviet Union and now the US and NATO would not been defeated there.

He said that Allah Almighty had ordained the believers to always keep their horses ready against the enemy, and the idea was that the Muslims should never be unaware of the designs of their enemy. “Whenever the word Fi-Sabeelillah is added to the words Jehad and Qital, it simply  implies doing these actions in the name of and for Allah”, he added.

Syed Munawar Hasan said all those who were agitating on his statement on the issue, were in fact making futile efforts to mislead the masses and spread hatred by giving their own meanings to his words. They wanted to hide their misdeeds in the form of extortion and dead bodies stuffed in gunny bags, he added.

The former JIP chief said that even the whole world could not prove anything done in compliance with Allah’s commands as wrong. If anyone derives a wrong meaning from any statement meant to convey Allah’s commands, he should pity his own ignorance, he remarked.

“Had there been full awareness about Jehad Fi-Sabillillah in the society, the enemy would not have taken us as soft fodder”, Syed Munawar Hasan said.

He said that the NATO attack at Silala was not an attack on a particular spot, it was an attack on the Pakistan army. Similarly, the attack at Abbotabad was not less than a whipping, and we should have learnt a lesson from that, he said.

Syed Munawar Hasan recalled at the time of the 1965 war, the then President Ayub Khan had himself stated that the enemy had thrown a challenge to the believers in Tauheed and the lovers of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

He said that in natural calamities such as floods and earthquakes, thousands of JI workers had always been in the forefront to provide every help and assistance to the affected people, and that too was Jehad in the way of Allah. “Who are the people to wage Jehad against social evils such as poverty, ignorance, injustice and diseases, or in the service of the IDPs”, he asked, and added that the workers and volunteers of the JI were always seen helping their countrymen in every calamity and difficulty.
